It's been almost a week since Round 1 of Chillitown MX's Battle for Ohio State Championship in Chillicothe, OH, but there's still plenty of "buzz" about Indiana, PA's Johnathan Wells. Wells registered for both 250 A and Open A determined to display his ability to be a top contender. On board a YZ250 (yes a 2 stroke), Wells pulled the holeshot in 250 A Moto 1 keeping notables such as Dylan Walker and Lane Staley charging hard to catch him. Wells put his head down and remained focused leading every lap to pull out a win in moto 1. With another holeshot in 250 A Moto 2, It looked as if Wells would sweep both motos. Wells fought hard to hold his position but was eventually passed by Lancaster, OH's Dylan Walker. The 1-2 finish for Wells took the overall win in the 250 A Class.
John also finished 2nd overall in the Open A class with a 3-3 behind Delta, OH's Broc Peterson who went 2-2. Moto 1 winner in the Open A class went to Winston Salem, NC's Lane Staley, who finished 3rd overall. Shelby, NC's Tyler McSwain took the Moto 2 win to end the day with a 4th overall. Other notables in the Open A Class include Jacob Berger, James Justice, Jason McConnell, and Jeff Alessi. We talked with Well's after the race and he couldn't have been happier with his results. We asked him how he felt, and he stated - "I have been racing against myself lately, so it feels good to know where I stand". Wells is supported by Jimmy Mcilwain, LBR Designs, MPR Suspension, and of course, TrueMX.
